About the Author

Sallie Moffitt is a multi-award-winning essay and memoir writer and a native Texan. Her essay “Hanging by a Vine” won the Ten Spur first place award at the 2022 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference.  Several of her essays and short stories have been published in anthologies, literary journals and small publications. She writes an inspiring blog where she shares her journey of finding hope and healing after surviving traumatic childhood abuse.

A survivor of traumatic childhood abuse, Sallie tells the stories many of us have lived. The arguments, fights, addictions, abuse and never-ending conflicts—those are the inspiration for her stories, essays and blogs. She writes about what many choose to ignore.

However, she shares her pain, not as a victim, but as a victor. With raw emotion and brutal honesty, her narratives work through the issues until they become a learning and growing experience. She has transformed her trauma narrative into a beacon that shines with the enduring beauty of hope, redemption and healing.

Her descriptive prose and thought-provoking plots invite the reader along on her journey of healing and inspire us to live our best lives, no matter how painful our pasts.
